The Dog is a cryptid that takes the form of an anthropomorphic dog suit. Hellbent on escaping the Voidway, the Dog manages to enter reality via a cursed cartridge of Duck Season, a game that accesses the Voidway and creates a gateway during play sessions. The Dog is a cryptid of memory, the extent of its abilities however are unknown. The Dog does not seem to have any intentions or goals beyond massacre, and it seems entirely driven by senseless violence. It goes on murder sprees as soon as it is released into the world, only stopping to stalk and toy with victims before killing them. After weeks of serial killings, it was eventually defeated by David during the events of Duck Season, and is presumably either dead or locked to the Voidway.
History
Like other cryptids, the Dog existed outside of time and space. However, when Gammon discovered the Voidway, they created a gateway by making games that transported the player's consciousness to the Void for a realistic experience. This allowed cryptids to enter the real world briefly. The Dog haunts a specific cartridge of Duck Season, which was unfortunately bought by a rental store. Families that rented the game were soon murdered, an event that made it to national television.
The Dog continued this rampage until the cartridge was bought by David's mother for her son. The Dog slowly seeped into the real world over the course of the day as David played the game non-stop. Eventually, the Dog manifested fully and murdered David's mother while David was stuck in Duck Season. The Dog then challenged David inside Duck Season, where he shapeshifted into a monstrous red beast, shooting fireballs in an attempt to destroy the gateway, leaving David stranded in the Voidway.
However, David successfully defeated the Dog and escapes to the real world once more. In the darkness, the Dog materializes and attempts to kill David with a knife, but is defeated once again. Writhing, the Dog is sucked back into the Voidway, and David is left alone with his dead mother. Whether the Dog is still alive is unknown.
